For best results, CLIF Bars should be eaten about one to three hours before exercise along with water to supply energy to working muscles. During prolonged, lower intensity exercise such as hiking or bike touring, CLIF Bars can be eaten during activity to maintain energy levels. CLIF Bars can also be eaten after exercise, as a snack between meals or during a long, busy day to help sustain energy.

Both CLIF Nut Butter Filled Energy Bar and CLIF Bar were designed to have roughly the same amount of calories. CLIF Nut Butter Filled has fewer carbohydrates and more fat than CLIF Bar (see chart above). As fat has more calories per gram than carbohydrates, CLIF Nut Butter Filled is scaled to provide the same amount of caloric energy for activities.

The 11 grams of fat in CLIF Nut Butter Filled Energy Bars are primarily from nuts and supply energy for your adventures.

Some athletes in the “ultra-community” have told us they are choosing to add more fat to their diets and to reduce carbohydrate consumption which they believe encourages their bodies to use fat for energy so fewer carbohydrates are needed during extended activity.

In Fall of 2019, we began transitioning CLIF Builders to be gluten free* along with the launch of a new packaging design. We know that people have different dietary needs and restrictions and want to ensure that we have options for them. With CLIF Builders, we found a way to make it gluten-free without impacting the bar’s taste and performance. CLIF Builders 20g protein bar is now a great option for those looking to build strong muscles and avoid gluten in their diet.

We crafted CLIF Builders specifically to help active people get the most out of their workout. For best results, eat a CLIF Builders after a workout for protein to help build and repair body tissues and carbohydrates to supply energy.

We updated our packaging design with a fresh-modern look! At CLIF, we’re constantly evaluating and refining all our food based on the latest nutrition science and consumer trends. For Builders, slight recipe changes were made but you should expect the same taste, texture and recovery benefits you know and love.

CLIF Whey Protein Bar provides great tasting energy, with a crispy and light texture, and is made with non GMO ingredient sources, as well as organic nuts and nut butters. It is crafted with 5gm of sugar and does not contain sugar alcohols. CLIF Whey Protein Bar is an excellent source of protein, 14gm, from whey, organic brown rice protein, organic nuts, organic pea protein and milk.

As with all Clif Bar & Company foods, CLIF Whey Protein Bar does not contain artificial flavours or high fructose corn syrup.

CLIF Kid Zbar is an organic, soft-baked whole grain energy snack made just for kids. Zbar does not contain trans fat, high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavours.

Each 36g Zbar has 130-150 calories with 2g protein depending on the flavour. In addition, each CLIF Kid Zbar contains 10-12g of whole grains, no more than 11g of sugar and 2-3g of total fibre. Canada’s Food Guide recommends making at least half of your grain products whole grain each day.

Zbar is not peanut-free. Please read the ingredient list and allergen statements on the package of individual CLIF Kid Zbar flavours for other possible allergens.
